Pitching at Silicon Roundabout’s #HealthTech evening
Six health tech companies pitched to influencers and entrepreneurs in London. We spoke about supporting people with diabetes and obesity, and about whether the future is predictive or personalised.

Healum was invited to pitch to health tech influencers and fellow entrepreneurs at Silicon Roundabout’s #HealthTech evening in London on 17 April 2019.
The organisers opened with a talk on the problems and challenges facing healthcare in the UK.
Six pitches
Six health tech companies pitched their products and the challenges they’re tackling, from genome sequencing and clinical trials to better quality of life for patients through personalised care and support outside the clinical setting.
Healum CEO and Co-founder Jonathan Abraham spoke about how Healum is working to make a difference to the lives of people with diabetes and obesity, and about our vision to improve the lives of 100 million people by creating digital tools that help healthcare professionals support patients with long-term conditions.
Predictive or personalised?
A panel moderated by Francesco Perticarari of Silicon Roundabout asked the speakers about their vision and growth plans for healthcare in the UK and worldwide. Our Marketing Manager, Nirmit Upadhyay, was asked:
“The Pharma 2020 report predicted that the healthcare world would have personalised medicine by 2020. But we are almost there, yet nowhere close. Why is that so? And what according to you is the future of health-tech?”
Nirmit took a different view of the future: it could be predictive analytics or personalised medicine, but not both. With predictive analytics, a person would be diagnosed before the illness takes hold, and there would be no need for medicine at all, let alone personalised medicine.
The evening ended with networking, and thanks to the hosts and organisers for bringing together the health tech community from London and across the UK.
