The challenge

Why good local services go unused

Southwark Council’s discovery work with residents found 3 barriers.

Hard to find

Residents struggled to find and use health and wellbeing information on council webpages.

Little help to change

Few services offered behaviour change support that met people where they were.

Not made for them

Residents from diverse communities reported a lack of relevance, trust and personalisation.

I’m the type of person that wants to do things, but doesn’t know where to look. I think this would be a great way for me to break through the fluff and find something local. I like this, I think I would get some use out of this for sure.

Case study · Southwark Council

What we learned with Southwark residents

Southwark Council commissioned Healum to design, prototype and test the service. Residents tested 3 concepts: personal support, community and feedback. They showed strong demand, and said it must connect them to real people.
