A day on the wardDischarged at eleven, looked after for a fortnight
Consent, already doneBefore his operation, Owen answered the ward’s consent questions in the app.
Thursday, 10:30Two days after his sleeve gastrectomy, Grace, his discharge nurse, writes his discharge note once. Owen and his GP both get it.
Discharged at elevenThe moment he’s discharged, the plan’s rules do the rest: his plan, a text, the discharge email, and what’s normal at home.
Day 1Each morning his plan shows what to do. Pain relief at 08:00: ticked, and the ward sees it.
Day 3, 09:30Time to change his dressing, with a video from the ward.
Day 3, 21:00A little red, some clear fluid: his plan’s evening message says that’s normal, and when to call.
Day 6His morning check-in: pain or swelling in his calf, which can mean a clot. His plan tells the ward straight away.
Grace calls himShe rings him at 08:48 and asks him in to check his leg, then confirms it in the chat.
Day 14His leg scan on day 6 was clear. Now his plan moves him on: six small puréed meals a day.
